Default conjure flame vs conjure lightning?

i read every single post i could on the matter, but cant figure out why air is so much more widely chosen than fire. (for rangers)

if conjure is the main skill being used by the ranger, what makes air better than fire, for instance?

are fire strings not availble or something? maybe some kind of synergy with air im missing? any help is appreciated.

Air is cooler.

And has a lot more useful skills if the player decides to use them.

Fire really isn't great of a spell line for outcome per energy. And with ranger's not having the best energy management, you want to be careful with your magic. Blinding and knockdown are two great conditions in the game, and air offers them.

if your going for Ran/Ele builds with conjures, then the only reason to pick air over fire is because most people are running around with Fire Resistant Armor.

The more general reason(elementalist players) is that fire is pretty much a last resort for PvP as its not good enough vs the other lines. Air spells have 25% Armor Penetration which makes them solid in PvP.

excellent, thanks.
as a quick aside, war/ele would do well with fire though, if using only the conjure from ele because of inate fire on the dragon sword? or do other weapons come with innate elemental damage that allow you to hilt them and keep elemental damage?

Charles recently told me Dragon Swords actually come with a Fire Hilt now.
Afaik there are no other weapons in the game, or that have been found yet that come innately like the Dragon Sword in terms of being so complete.
